1. The Earth: Primordial Iron Clay (Tie Tai)

Every masterpiece begins with the soil. Unlike ordinary ceramics, authentic Jian Zhan is forged from a unique, iron-rich "iron-body" clay. This mineral-rich earth is the reason our vessels feel substantial in your palm and possess the ability to "soften" water, enhancing the sweetness of your tea.

2. The Form: Hand-Thrown Precision

No molds. No assembly lines. Each bowl is individually hand-thrown on a traditional kick-wheel. The artisan feels the vibration of the clay, shaping the icons with a precision that comes only from decades of muscle memory.

3. The Fire: 1300°C Celestial Accidentalism

The kiln is a place of chaos and prayer. For 72 hours, the temperature is pushed to a staggering 1300°C. In this intense heat, the iron in the glaze bursts through the surface, creating "Oil Spots" or "Dragon Scales." This is Yao Bian (窑变)—Kiln Transformation. Out of a hundred pieces, only a handful emerge as true masterpieces.
