FAQ: How Do I Know These Photos Aren't Edited or AI-Generated?

This is a fair and important question — the internet is full of ceramic listings whose photos are more beautiful than the actual product. Here is exactly how we handle photography at Porcelainess.

Our Photography Policy

All product photographs are taken in natural light with minimal editing: white balance correction, brightness adjustment, and nothing more. We never enhance the glaze pattern, never deepen colors artificially, and never remove the inherent variation that makes each piece unique. What you see is the actual batch currently in inventory.

Why We Don't Enhance

Because trust is our entire business model. We charge a premium for authentic, curated Jian Zhan — that premium is only justified if the customer receives exactly what they saw. A customer who opens a box and finds a cup less beautiful than the photo will never return, and will tell others. The honest photo is our long-term strategy.

What AI Is and Isn't Used For

We use no AI-generated imagery in product listings. The tools we use are limited to composition and presentation (such as clean backgrounds for category imagery) — never to alter the physical appearance of a listed cup. If you ever suspect a photo has been manipulated, we invite you to compare it against the piece you receive: they will match.

Our Guarantee

If a piece arrives and you believe it does not match its photos, contact us within 30 days for a full refund including return shipping — at our expense. Read our full guarantee →
